'read the room' explores childhood nostalgia, using all furniture from my childhood home, and idiomatic and metaphoric language, resulting in a displaced dining room set up, abandoned and desolate.
the film shown in the installation is a performance piece, taking place in my hometown [abingdon, oxfordshire], as I walk up and down the routes I used to walk as a child, holding a STOP / GO sign that I have painted over to read 'IT'S ALL GOING / TOO FAST'.
